1. Finding The Photographer Who’s Right For YOU
The first and most obvious reason is getting the photographer you really want. The one who’s style matches the vision in your head. If you wait until mid-late summer to book chances are they may not have any dates left.
2. Time of Year
Most seniors either want to schedule their session for late summer (so they have a few months to get a good solid tan) or fall (think pretty colors and cute outfits). While those are fantastic times to get photos taken you might want to book in April or May to be sure you get a spot in the insanely popular August-October months.
3. Your Schedule
If you have a summer job, camping trips or other vacations planned it’s probably a good idea to get your senior pictures booked well in advance to make sure you don’t run out of time. With all the events happening in the summer it tends to fly by quicker than we expect and nobody wants to be stuck taking senior pictures in December!
4. Location, location, location
Say you’ve always wanted to get photos at an orchard when all the trees are in bloom. You would have to book early spring to reserve a date before all the blossoms are gone. Another factor is, if a photographer has to squeeze you in last minute you might not be able to go to as many locations or have as many outfit changes due to time restrictions.
Knowing your senior picture date well ahead of time will make it easy to schedule a hair appointment for a few weeks before hand if you need to get a cut or color. As for your makeup, I highly recommend having makeup professionally done for senior pictures. A professional makeup artist knows how to highlight your features for the camera while still making sure you look natural and beautiful.
